THROWING 02

On-axis and off-axis throwing

Both approaches depend on repeatable stance, grip, swing, release, and landing. The difference is how the rotation axis and post-release motion are treated.

On-axis

Shared horizontal rotation, paired flight.

Off-axis

Non-horizontal rotation, still observed consistently.

01

On-axis Throw

The aim is to send both dice at similar speed around a shared horizontal axis and land them together in the intended zone.

  • Use light pressure to reduce finger imbalance
  • Keep the swing on a straight path
  • Release together and watch dice separation

02

Off-axis Throw

This approach allows or creates non-horizontal rotation. The useful standard is still a stable, legal, observable throw—not a mysterious effect.

  • Define the rotation you want to observe
  • Fix height, speed, and target zone
  • Compare with slow motion or a practice log

03

Landing & Rebound

Landing point, felt response, back wall, chips, and distance all affect the rebound. Adjust one variable at a time.

  • Use a natural arc
  • Respect back-wall rules
  • Record movement quality as well as results
